EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Our client is a major Defence Supplier with an impressive array of Major Projects currently underway. Unprecedented recent growth and consulting success has now provided an exciting permanent opportunity for an experienced Engineering Manager and Program Manager with Defence/Naval background to join the Perth based team.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
To be successful in applying these positions you will be tertiary qualified in Engineering, Computer Science, IT or related field and/or have extensive industry/project experience (Defence/Naval/Submarine). Mandatory requirements include:
Engineering Manager:
- Professional engineering qualifications sufficient for Membership of the Institute of Engineers, Australia
- Minimum 12 years of professional engineering (post-graduation) experience,
- Must have held management level engineering or technical responsibility within a Defence based organisation or similar
Program Manager:
- Certificate 4 in Project Management
- AIPM accreditation to Certified Project Manager
- At least 5 years experience in program management
- Thorough knowledge of defence business, particularly relating to Naval Operations
- Demonstrate high level skills in team leadership, customer relationship and contract management
- Demonstrated high level skills in Financial cost control utilising Earned Value Principles
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Engineering Manager is responsible for all the engineering (technical) aspects of the program and for all systems, equipment and software covered by the Naval contract. This position is the accountable for the design and modification of the Combat System, Shore Facilities, Internal External Communications System and any other systems covered by the contract such that it meets the performance and engineering requirements and standards set by the Design Acceptance Authority.
The Program Manager is directly responsible to the Naval Program Director, for the day-to-day management of all engineering projects, meeting or exceeding customer expectations and companies business goals. The successful candidate will lead the Engineering projects to maintain the following pre-established global objectives:
- Target costs
- Financial forecasting
- Key milestones
- Technical performance goals
- Risk Management
- Quality
- Technical accomplishments and corrective actions
Due to the nature of this role the successful applicant will need to hold or be eligible to obtain a Department of Defence Security Clearance.
